What to expect upon visiting Pecan Grove…

Newcomers to Pecan Grove will notice we are a “family” style congregation. We always strive to be an inclusive and welcoming group, greeting each other and visitors warmly. If you join us on Sunday morning, you will be treated to donuts, juice, milk, and coffee before our Sunday school classes. We offer classes for babies, preschoolers, lower and upper elementary kids, teens, and adults. Following Sunday school, we will move to the auditorium to participate in worship service together. A nursery is available and informally attended by members for a safe place for little ones who are struggling in worship.

Our worship service will include acappella singing, prayer, weekly Communion, and a sermon. Responsive Bible readings, special solos or song selections, Powerpoint presentations, or member shared poetry may be included on any given Sunday. Our congregation chooses not to have a located preacher. We have a group of visiting preachers who preach on Sundays. Elders and members also fill the pulpit on a regular basis. Our “Speakers” page has more details. During the sermon, children ages 3-12 are welcome to attend Kingdom Quest, if desired. Kingdom Quest is our “children’s church” program where children can learn Bible lessons through song, lessons, crafts, cooking, and games. Following the worship service, we share in a fellowship meal together that is “potluck” style. Everyone is welcome to attend, especially our visitors.

If you join us on Wednesday night, you will find us visiting and fellowshipping at 7:00 pm. We begin with an informal song service where anyone is welcome to suggest songs that we share together. Songs are led by anyone who feels comfortable. We often practice new songs and lots of old standards. Once our voices are “tired out”, we break for classes. During the summer the kids will all participate together in a fun lesson with crafts, coloring, or games. Throughout the rest of the year, the older kids (3rd grade and up) participate in practicing for their events in LTC (see the Education page for more info) while the younger kids watch a Bible based movie and color and have snacks while the adults have class. Adult classes are informal, led by members, with lots of discussion on a myriad of topics.

We hope this little summary will help you feel “at home” when you visit us at Pecan Grove Church. Come on down and see us anytime!
